I really should stop punning in my blog titles shouldn’t I? Anyway, hello, hope you’re enjoying some sunshine.

With Edinburgh stuff starting to hot up (read me spending a lot of time in front of my mac trying to come up with the show, with tricks and amazement but at the moment no jokes) it means I must get ready to be photographed. This Friday I’m having a new shoot done with a bloody brilliant photographer and am trying to come up with some ideas for it.

At the moment I’m browsing my beloved truffleshuffle to try find some new T-Shirts to wear for it, and going through my wardrobe to find out what I would wear from that. That’s just the start of the trouble, I then need to come up with some ideas for what to do in the photos. Normally I just jump a lot.. maybe I’ll do that again.

Any suggestions which don’t involve me with a deck of cards or holding my temples in a mind reading manner, do send them my way.

Wondering who to see at the Udderbelly Festival? We’ll be bringing you a series of Q&A’s with some of the amazing artists appearing in the big upside down purple cow this year.

Ladies and Gents.. introducing Chris Cox!

Where are you?
…Right now I am in my flat in a part of fancy North London, home of overpriced coffee and mums with pushchairs. If you’re next questions is what are you wearing then I will be terminating this conversation.

Who are you?
Phew, that was a close one. I’m Chris Cox (hello) I’m a young skinny little fella with large eyes who tries to amaze and entertain you through some mind-reading related nonsense.

What do you do?
I’m a mind-reader who can’t read minds. So I use various techniques to make you think that I know what you’re thinking, some magic, some psychology a bit of body language all that sort of stuff. I then mix that supposed mind-reading ability into a show which will make you think the impossible is possible.

What’s the show all about?
It’s about what I would do if I could really read minds, influence people and predict the future. I’d be able to know what girls are thinking of me on dates, I’d be able to always get seats on crowded train, all those little things to make my life easier. So I’ll do those things, and tell you how you can use them in your life. Expect lots of audience participation, lots of fun, lots of laughs and lots of moments to make you go wow.

Why should people come and see your show?
Because I’ll be all lonely on stage if you, yes you specifically, don’t turn up. You’ll get an I Love Cox badge, see the show that I’ve toured the world with, the show that’s been called ‘Stunning’ by The Times and the one that TV3 in New Zealand said is ‘A Must See Show’. Also there might be the odd face you’ll recognise in the audience so there is an added bonus.

What are you most looking forward to about the show at the Udderbelly?
Other than being able to say I’ve performed in an upside down purple cow? I suppose the fact that I’ll be able to have a lot of fun with a sexy audience, in a great location all of whom will work together with me to make the imperfect world that we live in a little bit more perfect, well at least for an hour.

And, finally, what does the rest of the year hold for you?
Sleeping, Eating, Breathing, Edinburgh Festival, UK Tour, American TV Series… you know, the usual.

So on Saturday morning, after a lovely few days being a bit spoilt in a country house retreat, I settled in front of the TV, just like I know you all did, and watched my face appear on the televisual screen. It was alright I think.

It’s very interesting watching myself back, I think I look younger on screen and not as skinny as I am in real life. Filming the show was great fun, Dick & Dom are lovely lads, the production team are a delight and the kids in the audience made it all the more exciting. I particularly love how Dom, as a magician himself, is probably one of the best participants for a trick ever, holding stuff in the right place for the cameras, looking amazed, all that stuff, well done him.

I’m pretty sure the trick came across okay. It wasn’t the trick I wanted to do, but hopefully was still impressive, amazing and simple to follow. If you missed it you can see it here.

The other thing I’ve been busy doing recently is confirming stuff for this years Edinburgh Fringe. This scares me a lot. I’ve got a rough show idea, and now need to really get to work in writing it, making tricks, designing props, all that sort of stuff. I need to have photos taken, a designer on board and artwork for adverts done within a month, so I need to get my pretty face on and have lots of meetings. Edinburgh is a joy when it begins but stresses and worries me for months before, what if the show is no good, what if it’s not funny, what if it’s not amazing. So many worries and so little to do about them other than work my ass off writing and make the show as good as it can be. Especially as it’ll be a slight departure from the normal style of things I do. Not a huge departure, but I’m going to attempt to add more layers and a narrative to it. Good luck everyone. Oh and if that’s not enough I’ve the big London version of Mind Over Patter in May to prepare for and to try remember as I’ll have had 7 months off doing the full show before I do it again in the Udderbelly.

Why do I do these things to myself? Oh because I love it. Yeh, I forgot about that.
